Traits

Players can gain ‘Traits’, which are various skills available in the game world. For example, a player might have the trait “STRONG”. These traits are used in non combat situations to simulate other skills, knowledge and the like within the game.
Each trait will have a rank. A player might have “STRONG 5”, this means that they have 5 uses of “STRONG” within the game, or combine multiple uses of the trait to produce a stronger effect. Without the use of powers you may NOT use a trait ranking of 4 or more, however you may have the trait as high as you like. Uses of a trait above 3 are beyond human ability, beyond 6 would be incredible to witness and clearly not human.

In the game a player has “Strong 5”. They have been captured and have had iron cuffs placed on them Upon asking a ref, they’re told that “STRONG 3” will be required  to break out. Upon doing this, they will have “Strong 2” left for the rest of the game. If the ref had said that “STRONG 4” was required, then they would not be able to break them without the use of a power, which specifically allows players to have a higher rating in “STRONG”.

A list of some traits can be seen below, with an idea of what we belive they could be used for. Feel free to contact the refs to ask about any other traits which you may like to have.

Songs

There is a magic in the world of slayer that few understand. A lot of this magic it tied up in the use of songs. These are passed down from parent to child through the years, and used by many in day to day life. They are seen as superstitions by some, and known by most. These songs are best compared to the nursery rhymes we have today. The exact words do not matter so creating your own lyrics is welcome.

Songs have limited to no visible effect if used by a human. However when used by a monster the following things can be done. Note that we have written down the songs which we feel will have most impact on the game, if you feel that there should be others then please get in touch. There will also be other songs than those shown below that can be found within the game world.

Below is a list of songs which are available to starting characters. These are the basic level of songs, they can be studied in downtime to increase their affects. Note that using songs will not degenerate your character, however they are far weaker than even the most minor monsters powers in most situations. More may exist within the world, see downtime for how to get more songs or higher level songs. Roleplaying a song should take you a few minutes, either telling a story based around the concept of the song or singing a song based around them. This can be done in general roleplay. Note that unless specifically stated a song is not something that can be used in combat.
